Every morning after carrot-breakfast, two very important rabbits hop into town and sit on their favourite bench to “talk business.”

No one is quite sure what their business is.

They straighten their tiny jackets, tap their feet, and nod wisely while discussing very serious matters such as:

• Which clover patch is the softest

• Whether carrots taste better sliced or whole

• And who gets the sunny side of the bench

Though they look official, the Busy Bun Benchmates are mostly experts in pretending. Gardens with them nearby tend to feel cheerful and organised—even if nothing actually gets done.

Legend says if you place them near a path or doorway, they’ll quietly watch over comings and goings and make sure everyone remembers to sit down and rest once in a while.
