Barnaby isn't a magical construct or a royal guardian; he’s just a very good boy with a very bad habit of eating Garrum’s snacks. He earned the name "Foundry’s Shadow" because his light brown coat perfectly matches the color of sawdust and dried clay, making him nearly invisible in the workshop. Garrum claims he only keeps Barnaby around because the dog’s wagging tail helps sweep the floor, but everyone knows the old mason secretly carves the best "Stone-Bones" for Barnaby to chew on.
